Action brings clarity
One of my favorite coaches shared this little gem and it has served me well:
Action brings clarity.
My take-away from this is that when I’m learning a new skill or a new way of doing something, and I find myself playing it out in my head yet again, it’s probably time for me to take action. If I’m unsure of myself or afraid I’ll forget a certain part or am hesitant because I don’t know how something will turn out, then it’s time for me to consider taking action. Taking action will show me what I need to know. I can sit all day rehearsing in my head but when I take action, that’s when things become crystal clear.
Will I make mistakes? Sure!
Will I do it less than perfectly? You better believe it!
Will I learn something that I needed to know? ABSOLUTELY!
Many times I realize I was more prepared than I thought I was. Or that I just need to tweak one thing to make it better. Or it was only fear that was holding me back, and I can handle fear.
Taking action provides opportunity for practice, reveals what's missing, and boosts self-confidence!
So remember, the next time you find yourself in your head, trying to figure it all out before actually giving it a try — action brings clarity.
